Alexandre de la Taille
MD PhD

A pioneer in the development of robotic urological surgery in France, Professor Alexandre de la Taille began his training with open surgery and shifted toward laparoscopic surgery in 2000. In 2005, the introduction of robotics at Henri Mondor University Hospital gave him access to the 17th robot sold worldwide. He immediately began performing robot-assisted prostatectomy with the da Vinci system and standardized the technique.
To date, Professor Alexandre de la Taille has performed more than 3,500 robotic procedures, including 3,000 for prostate cancer treatment.
His experience and national and international recognition have led him to perform live surgeries and surgical demonstrations in France (Hartman Clinic, Longjumeau Clinic, Tenon University Hospital, Enghien les Bains Clinic, Limoges, HCL Lyon, Marseille University Hospital), Germany (Martini Klinik, Düsseldorf University Hospital), Spain (Puigvert Institute), Lebanon (Clemenceau Medical Center, Levant Clinic), and Italy (Turin). He has participated in French (AFU), European (EAU), and endo-laparoscopic surgery congresses.
He also provides proctoring to help colleagues begin robotic surgery at their centers through training established by Intuitive Surgical.
His robotic surgical procedures include radical prostatectomy with or without lymph node dissection, partial nephrectomy, total nephrectomy, kidney harvesting for living donors, and cystectomy with bladder replacement or Bricker-type diversion.
